H1N1 Reimbursement Code Update

Two new CPT and HCPCS codes have been issued for the H1N1 Vaccinations.  CMS has created two new HCPCS codes which are G9141-Influenza A (H1N1) immunization administration (includes physician counseling the patient/family) and code G9142-Influenza A (H1N1) vaccine, any route of administration. Per CMS these codes will be reimbursed at the same rate that has been established for code G0008 (administration of influenza virus vaccine. The AMA’s CPT Editorial Panel has created and approved two new codes for the H1N1 vaccine and vaccine administration. Code 90663 was revised to refer specifically to the H1N1 vaccine product which now reads 90663-Influenza virus vaccine, pandemic formulation, H1N1 and the creation of code 90470-H1N1 immunization and administration (intramuscular, intranasal), including counseling when performed.
